Aaron Blackman

November 5, 1936 — July 5, 2019

On Friday, July 5th, 2019, Aaron Blackman, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 82 in Corona, CA. Aaron was born on November 5, 1936 in Toronto, Canada to Morris and Evelyn Blackman. He was raised there alongside his two sisters, Esther and Sylvia, before moving to the United States in 1952. In 1954, he joined the US Army, serving over 3.5 years as a paratrooper. A gifted salesman, Aaron sold money orders after his time in the army while he attended Long Beach City College at night. He then moved on to Caloric Gas Range sales and, eventually, machined parts. In 1974, he founded Globe Dynamics, a successful machine shop that he sold in 2012. Aaron joined the Masons in 1976 followed by the Scottish Rite and the Al Malaikah Shrine in 1977. He was an extraordinarily active Shriner, devoting much of his lifetime to various Shriner endeavors and positions including: Member of Los Nietos Shrine Club, Captain of the Al Malaikah Guard, member of the Al Malaikah Patrol, member of the Al Malaikah Silver Mounted Patrol, charter member of the RV Shrine Club, Potentate of the Al Malaikah Shrine in 2001, Trustee for the Al Malaikah Auditorium Company, and, his proudest opportunity was to serve on the Board of Governors at Shriners for Children Hospital from March 2010 until becoming Emeritus in December 2017. Aaron held an intense love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with horses, golf, fishing, dogs and ice hockey (GO DUCKS!). He was renowned for his stories and jokes, always able to pull a laugh from the listener. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and the Bellringer joke will never be told quite the same way again. Aaron is survived by Bonnie, his wife of 44 years, and their five children, eight grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Thomas Miller Mortuary in Corona, CA on July 22nd, 2019 at 11:00 am followed by Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA at 1:00 pm.
