Alfredo Martinez Munoz

September 11, 1952 — February 19, 2016

Alfredo Martinez Muoz Sr. passed away on February 19, 2016 at the age of 63. He is survived by his children Alfredo Jr., Guadalupe and Daniel. His grandchildren, Isaiah and Vicky. Fiance, Elvia Rosales Rodriguez, as well as 13 brothers and sisters. Alfredo was born on September 11, 1952 in Tecualtitan, Jalisco, Mexico. He immigrated to the United States in 1973 and resided predominately in Corona, CA. Recently after retirement, he was living in his childhood town of San Pedrito, Jalisco, Mexico. Alfredo was a soccer official throughout his life, and officiated the sport through a span of 38 years. He was a United States Soccer Federation National Emeritus referee, assessor, and instructor. His passion for the sport made him very well known in the Mexican and American soccer communities. He was beloved by his fellow referees for his infectious smile and engaging personality, along with the love of the sport of soccer. Please join us for a Celebration of Life Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 5 pm Thomas Miller Mortuary 1118 E 6th Street, Corona, CA 92782 Mass will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Corona, on Friday, February 26, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Orange. In lieu of flowers, a Soccer Referee Memorial Fund has been established.
