Alice Lane Wymer

March 19, 1925 — January 29, 2021

Her life was like the longest sunny day and when the sun set, the lord welcomed her as she slept. Alice L. Wymer passed away on January 29, 2021 at the age of 95. Alice was a long-time resident of the Inland Empire. She was born on March 19, 1925 in Trinidad, CO and moved to Vallejo, CA when she was a teenager. Her musical talents earned her a scholarship to the University of Redlands where she received her Master of Arts Degree in Music. Through a mutual love of music, she met her former husband while attending the university. She is survived by her son, Dale Wymer (Maryann) and daughter, Debbie Butler (Glenn). She has 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Alice was an active, faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Riverside and United Methodist Women. She previously served as the church's youth choir director and recently retired as their Director of the Aldersgate Chorale. She was a long-time member of PEO International, a philanthropic organization where women celebrate, educate, and motivate women to achieve their highest potential. She taught choir at Ramona High School and worked for the County of Riverside for several decades. Alice was a professional vocalist who graced us all with her beautiful, clear voice. Her previous involvement with the Raincross Master Chorale and John T. Hamilton Chorale allowed her to travel and perform in historical cathedrals in England and Hong Kong. She was a featured performer in numerous annual holiday Feast of Lights presentations at the University of Redlands as well as many opera, light opera, and musical productions. She also performed one-woman shows where her varied musical repertoire was showcased. In addition to her vocal talent, she was a prolific crafter including sewing, crochet, needlework, pottery, and stained-glass work. Alice chose her own path, unequivocally staying true to herself and living on her own terms. She will be dearly missed by her family, her friends, and the lives she touched along the way. She will be interred at Olivewood Memorial Park, Court of Serenity alongside her former spouse, Harold, her son, Tim and her daughter, Donna. Due to constraints of the current pandemic, a memorial and celebration of life will be live-streamed.
