Alice Ruth Kroboth (ne Moeller) of Riverside, California, passed away on September 19, 2023, at the age of 94.
Alice Moeller was born in the town of Granville, a rural area near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on February 28, 1929, to Clarence and Dora (ne Lemke) Moeller. She was the eldest of five children, all girls. Alices early years were spent in a house across the street from her grandparents farm. After her father became a Milwaukee city bus driver, the family moved to the north side of Milwaukee, where Alice attended high school with three of her sisters.
After high school, Alice worked as a trainer for the telephone company. On May 20, 1950, she married Harvey Kroboth. During Harveys career with The Milwaukee Journal, Alice became a homemaker and raised two children. She was an active member of Atonement Lutheran Church and served there as a part-time secretary.
Alices sewing skill was widely known among family and friends, and this led in later years to her hobby of quilt making. Her quilts - some designed by Harvey, a graphic artist - were the subject of several exhibitions. She continued quilting until the intricate work became too much for her failing eyesight.
After Harveys retirement, the couple moved to a newly built house in Door County, northeastern Wisconsin. They also built a house in Green Valley, Arizona, and for more than twenty years spent half the year in each location. It was during this period that Alice became interested in genealogy and, using her newly acquired internet search skills, compiled detailed histories of each branch of Harveys and her family trees.
Harvey and Alice moved to Riverside, California in 2015 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in May 2020, shortly before Harveys passing in August.
Alice is survived by her son Kurt, daughter Kathleen Anich, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
