Ann (Smit) DeRuyter, of Norco, CA, passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 She was born in the Netherlands May 1928. Married Quirinus DeRuyter in 1951. Ann and her husband immigrated to America in 1957 and settled in the city of Norco. Ann and her husband owned and operated the DeRuyter Egg Ranch until 1983 when they transitioned to DeRuyters Christmas Tree Farm until they retired in 1994. Ann loved nature and being outdoors, where she truly felt alive. She loved to go camping with her family. She loved to travel throughout the U.S., Europe and Canada. Her favorite trip however, was cruising to Alaska where she led a dog sled team. Ann is preceded in death by her Husband, Quirinus DeRuyter and their daughter, Alida. Ann is survived by her 8 children: Nick DeRuyter, Jacob DeRuyter, Marion Terry, Annette Poynor, Peter DeRuyter, Teresa Wages, Theodora (Dorothy) Perkio, William DeRuyter, 8 Grandchildren who affectionately called her Oma as well as 3 Great Granddaughters. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to SmileTrain.org Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 27th 10 a.m. at St. Mels Catholic Church in Norco.
