Anna Lee Sheets passed away on June 8, 2025 at the age of 89. She was a city girl who grew up in Marion, Indiana. She was the ninth of eleven children born to Gail Andrew Sloderbeck and Mary Ida (Shide) Sloderbeck. Anna was a very athletic teen. Not only was she a cheerleader in middle school, but in high school she played on the girls’ basketball team. Believing that she should serve her country, Anna joined the United States Air Force after she graduated from high school. (Anna always believed that women should serve in the military as well as men.) In the Air Force Anna was assigned to run “the newest invention”, computers. She knew that learning technology could get her a job after her time in the Air Force ended. She was right! Several companies hired Anna, because she was one of the few people who was educated on the newest tech devices. Anna went on to marry her on again off again bow of 8 years, Philip Sheets. The couple had two children, Philip Jr. and Michele. Anna and Philip made a packed, Anna would stay at home and raise the kids, while Philip worked. As usual, Anna put her heart into this job: school room mom, Boy Scout Master, Girl Scout Leader, PTA President, were just a few of her titles. (Not to mention the BEST chocolate chip, butterscotch, cookie maker ever!) Anna loved playing the card game Euchre, camping, Jet skiing, 4 wheeling, bowling, traveling, sewing, chatting with friends, and serving the churches that she attended. Anna is survived by her immediate family: son, Philip Sheets Jr.; daughter, Michele Anna Sheets; daughter-in-law Tina Sheets; and grandson, David Sheets. Her only remaining sibling is her big sister Gail Sheets. A private ceremony will be held for Anna at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Anna’s family requests a card with a favorite memory of her.
