Annie Lee Watson, 80, known to most as Joann, died unexpectedly July 13, 2021. She was born on October 3, 1940, in Roanoke, Virginia, the daughter of Edward David Catlett and Sylvia Lee (Hall) Catlett. One of five siblings, she was raised in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. She graduated from Strong Vincent High School in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1959. Shortly after high school she moved to California where she worked for Bank of America and became involved extensively in equestrian activities which she continued throughout her time in California. Joann has lived in Norco, California since 1969. In addition to raising a family, Joann truly enjoyed being involved in her community. She was a member of the Equestrian Trails Inc. in Paramount and the Norco Hoofbeats, riding and performing throughout California in the 60s, 70s and 80s. She also volunteered at the Brian-Dale Therapeutic Riding Center in Norco. Joann attended Peace Lutheran Church in Corona and later Norco Christian Church. She was also a long-time member of the women's bible study at Church on the Hill in Norco. Joann enjoyed many outings, plays, cruises, and social engagements as an active member of the Red Hat Society "Crown Jewels" for several years. She cherished her many friendships there and recounted adventures from her times there fondly. Continuing to give back to the community, Joann became involved the Norco Citizens Patrol in 1996. She participated in weekly patrols and promoted community safety throughout her many years of volunteer service. "BusyJoann" was an adventurer who explored most of the United States and several other countries. She recently had returned from yet another Alaskan adventure with her family. In addition to her parents, Joann was predeceased by her brothers Earl and Arthur. Surviving are her son, Steven Watson and his wife Jennifer, of Eagle River, Alaska and their children Cadence and Matthew; her former spouse, Gary Watson of Chino Valley, AZ, her stepdaughter Debbie Weisheim and her husband Scott, of Las Vegas, NV and their sons Colton and Brock; sister Sandra Costa and her husband James of Mira Loma, CA; her brother David and his wife Jeanie, of Stillwater, OK and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews that have brought her immense joy through sharing in their lives over the years. A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 pm on July 31, 2021, at the Norco Christian Church, 3625 Corona Avenue in Norco CA.
