Bernell Newton

Bernell Newton, age 75, of Corona, CA passed away on October 6, 2017. He was born on November 15, 1941 in Alexandria, LA. Bernell was attending Peabody high school when he met, little did he know, his future wife Luella Leassears. While they were getting to know each other, he joined the Army and was deployed away to Germany and France where he served as an Engineer in the 249th Battalion. Fortunately, they stayed in touch, and when he returned, he popped the question. They were married on January 30, 1965, which lasted for 52 years. His next assignment was to find a place to settle down. He decided on Los Angeles, CA and brought his new wife out to start a life together in the West. Almost a year later they had Kimberly, who was born on his birthday. While attending LA Trade Technical College, he received an associates degree and landed a career at the U.S. Postal Service as an Accident Analyst and supervisor over postal drivers. This career would last for 30 years and take him into retirement. Through Bernells journey, he has had the opportunity to be blessed by family and friends, some of which include Mickel Newton (Nelda), Kim Douglas, Bridjette N. Perry and Brenda N. Belvin. Deceased siblings are Dorothy, Arbra, Billie, Cartwell, Joseph, Charles and Oscar Newton. Also deceased are his parents, Rev. John and Mrs. Blanche Ennis Newton.
