Betty Jean was born September 21, 1930, to James and Ruby Powers in Malden, Missouri and peacefully passed away March 28, 2024, at the age of 93.
Betty’s parents moved their family of 6 girls to California in the 1940s. She graduated from Corona High School in Corona, CA in 1948. At the age of 17, she needed her father’s permission to marry her “true love”, David P. Panattoni. They did so on September 18th, 1948, in Corona, California where they also settled down and raised their 3 children. Betty lived in Corona until 2015 when she moved to Orange Park, Florida to live with her youngest daughter’s family until her passing.
Betty worked at the Corona Daily Independent working with the paper boys. She also worked at Riverside General Hospital in the accounting department for many years. While David was alive, they spent many years camping and fishing in Baja, Mexico with family and friends. Baja was their true happy place! Betty and Dave volunteered many years at City of Hope in Duarte, CA fundraising for the cancer research center. They participated in helping with many fundraisers.
Betty’s greatest joy was her family. She loved interacting with her children, grandchildren and her church in the children’s ministry, missions, and the seniors’ ministry. She loved God with her whole heart, body, and soul. She shared this love to whomever would listen!
She is survived by her 3 children: Felicia Brannon of Orange Park, FL; Joe (Nancy) Panattoni of Oroville, CA; and Debby (Brian) Bryan of Orange Park, FL. She is the proud Nana to 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She also loved dearly her many, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved & devoted husband of 56 years, David P. Panattoni, who passed away in 2004.
Betty was the last of the legendary, six-Powers girls to pass away, and she did so peacefully as her favorite song “His Eye is On the Sparrow” was sung and ushered her into Glory.
More than anything else in this world, Betty wants everyone to know that Jesus loves them and desires greatly to see each and every one of her loved ones in Heaven.
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
