Bret Taj Mckinney

Blessed are they that reaffirm the worth of our deceased beloved Bret Taj McKinney by sharing memories of his goodness and times of fun, laughter and happiness. Bret Taj McKinney departed this life on January 1, 2018. He was born on November 9, 1995 in Victorville, CA, the son of Bret McKinney and Angela McKinney. He attended elementary and middle schools in Corona and Tustin, CA and graduated from Tustin High School in 2013. It was there that he proudly played small forward and power forward positions on Tustin Highs basketball team and helped them win CIF Championship in his Senior year. While basketball was his favored sport, music was Brets passion. As a toddler he is remembered to quickly pick up the words from the song “I Believe I Can Fly” and there began his hobby and every ounce of spare time being immersed in everything music. His dream career - a music D.J. He found that his work in the restaurant industry allowed him the time to enjoy his passion of music. To that end, he enjoyed his work at In n Out Burger in Laguna Niguel and as a server at Red O in Newport Beachs Fashion Island and P. F. Changs in Riverside. Bret is survived by his parents Bret and Angela McKinney; his brother and best friend Ron McCoy and his sister Ariana McCoy. He also leaves his maternal grandmother Joan Reasonover and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather James Payne and paternal grandparents Richard and June McKinney.
