Brock H Acosta

September 9, 1956 — January 12, 2021

Brock H. Acosta passed away on January 12, 2021 after a short and bitter battle with COVID-19. Brock was 64. He was born on September 9, 1956 in Los Angeles California to Marty and JaNell Acosta. At birth, Brock struggled to get a good breath. This lack of oxygen supply gave him permanent brain damage. When Brock was young his family relocated from Torrance to Corona, where he remained the rest of his life. Brock attended and graduated from Victress Bower. As an avid swimmer and runner, Brock participated in several Special Olympics. One year he proudly made it all the way to the finals held at UCLA. Brock enjoyed the annual family vacations to Yosemite where other families met for a week of camping. When Brock was young, he treasured his comic book collection that he had gathered together over the years. Brock was always independent minded. On Saturdays he would walk two miles to the old Corona Theater watching a double billing from the front row, always warning the hero that the villain was about to creep up on him. Then on his way home he would stop by the 7/11 to see if any new comic books had come in to add to his collection. Brock was most happy working at Chet Fleet Maintenance and then Corona Lumber Company. He had the responsibility of cleaning and sweeping the stores. Brock also enjoyed the interaction with everyone who worked at both businesses. In Brock's later years he became less mobile and started a video movie collection that became his passion. He enjoyed watching westerns and classic movies, knowing all the old movie stars by name. It was at this time Brock became reacquainted with a childhood friend, Brad White. Brock and Brad began a friendship that has lasted 10+ years. They spoke daily. Brock's mom was always present for him, making sure he had the best clothes to wear and proper care at his home. Urging Brock's caretakers that "we can do better for him". Brock will be dearly missed. His pleasant "Hello" and warm handshake was a fixture in Corona for so many years.
