William Bruce Harris (often simply Bruce to his family and many friends) was born on August 29, 1954, to Thurl and Eleanor Harris. Spending his childhood in Centerville, Indiana, Bruce exhibited his signature warmth and lightheartedness from an early age. He spent his days playing sports with his close-knit siblings, Mick, Jane, and Dana—and he was always the first to invite anyone from the neighborhood to join in.
Ever the extroverted adventurer, Bruce packed up an old van in 1975 and journeyed west to California. There, he met and fell in love with Denise Armas, whom he married in 1983. Together, they built Bruce’s greatest treasure—his beautiful family, consisting of their four children: Jamie, Christine, Michael, and Lauren. His family grew to include his four beloved granddaughters: Mackenzie, Karley, Olivia, and Emma. Bruce was always the loudest cheerleader at countless football and softball games, karaoke nights, dance recitals, and every life milestone.
Bruce brought his gift for making everyone feel welcome to the construction supply industry, working in the trade for over five decades. Clients and co-workers alike often remarked about Bruce’s unique fairness, charm, and good nature. A lifelong sports fanatic, Bruce cheered passionately for the St. Louis Cardinals, Notre Dame Fightin’ Irish, and Indianapolis Colts. He loved nothing more than to attend games with friends and family, making new friends along the way by offering strangers a sizzling plate at the tailgate.
To know Bruce was to know true hospitality—whether an impromptu family gathering, a sports tournament, or one of life’s special moments—Bruce made everyone feel welcome with a grin and easy conversation. That spark will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
