On Saturday, December 18, 2021, we lost our beloved Carol Serna. Carol was only 58 years old, but over those brief years here on Earth she brought much joy to everyone she knew, not only as a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a cousin, but also as a loving partner, friend, teammate, and exceptional Pool Player. Carol was truly a one-of-a-kind person with a kind and caring heart, an extraordinary love for animals, a fun-loving soul, an odd sense-of-humor, and a passion for competition, especially amongst the pool playing community she dedicated herself to her entire adult life. Because of Carol's openness and non-judgmental nature, she could come into any setting and become your friend just by listening, looking you in the eye, laughing, and offering up stories from her countless life experiences. She lived quite an interesting life and was never afraid to try out new things, seek adventures, and impact others with her unique style, selflessness, and calm laid-back demeanor. Carol loved all of God's creatures, especially dogs and cats, and loved good classic rock and roll by the Doors, Hendrix, Boston, Queen, Pat Benatar, and Heart to name a few. She also loved going to concerts, tie-dye shirts, getting together with friends, hanging out with her family, attending annual family reunions, and of course, enjoying a nice smoke to balance out life a bit. Carol was a dedicated member of the Monte Vista Unitarian Universalist Congregation, as well as the Liquid Moon Circle of Unitarian Universalist Pagans. She believed in an Earth based faith and embraced the philosophies, teachings and spiritual nature of Earth's elements, which she felt helped guide how she lived her life. Ultimately, she strived to live as a good human being and to respect all things and everyone. Carol had many roles throughout her life, but her career was as a Veterinarian Technician where she cared for dogs, cats, their owners, and other creatures with true compassion, skill, and love. Although she had many interests, everyone knew her main passion in life was playing competitive pool. Carol played pool "religiously", frequenting pool halls and competing in leagues and tournaments across Southern California and Las Vegas. She was a great teammate and captained many teams (Captain Carol's Misfits) for years in her quest to win league titles and tournaments whenever and wherever the opportunity came up. She was the ultimate "Pool Shark", even though she wasn't the hustling type. Although Carol dealt with health issues over the past several years, she rarely complained about the severity, even though most knew it was a struggle for her. It rarely kept her from making it out to "pool night". Carol is survived by her long-time partner, Angie Garcia, and her dogs, Katie and Sid, and cats, Oneage and Cue. She was a loving sister to her brothers Marc, John, Dan, and Richard, and sisters Linda, Christine, and Laurie; a loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews on both the Serna and Garcia family sides; the coolest cousin to a whole lot of family members; and a truly dedicated and loving friend to Christine, Veronica, and many others that were fortunate enough to know her, play pool with her, and play pool against her. Carol's parents, Vicky and Tony, loved her dearly and she was everything to them, but now they are all back together. Carol will be missed more than words can say, but she will be in everyone's hearts forever. Memorial Sierra Memorial Chapel Mortuary 951-687-0551 | Friday 2/11, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
