Carolyn Ann Turner

Carolyn Ann Turner (McElderry), 77, of Westminster, Ca., passed away on November 14, 2022. Ann was born on April 22, 1945 to Warren and Juanita McElderry in Fairfield, Iowa. Ann was the second of four children. After Ann graduated from Fairfield High School in 1963, she went on to study education at Truman State University in Missouri. After graduating with a degree in education, she moved to California and started her first job at Carnegie Middle School as a teacher, kickstarting a 41+ year career in education. In that time, she taught for 28 years at Alexander Fleming Middle School and 13 years a Narbonne High School. In 1968, Ann met her neighbor Dennis Turner in Lomita, Ca. One month later they were married. In their 45 years of marriage Ann and Dennis had two children, Edward and Gregory. In addition to teaching the youth of the Los Angeles Unified School District full time, Ann always took time to volunteer in her own children's classrooms, be president of their little league, and tutor dozens of neighborhood children in mathematics. In 2008, Ann retired from teaching and spent her time gardening, exercising, substitute teaching, and attending college courses to further her education. She is survived by her two brothers, one sister, and two sons. Services will be privately held. Service Private
