Charmayne (Char) Killingsworth of Corona, CA passed away on Sunday, September 29 at the age of 94. Born and raised in Riverside. During her high school days at Riverside Poly High her family moved to Corona, and she transferred to Corona High where she graduated with the Class of 1948. After high school she attended the University of Southern California where she fell in love and married an athlete, eventually returning to Corona to raise four children.
Char had a competitive spirit and developed a passion for tennis. She could often be seen on the tennis courts where she met and made lifelong friend. With a love for the outdoors and travel, she enjoyed time at the beach, rock hunting on the shores of the Colorado River, trekking in the Rocky Mountains and touring Ireland. She had a fondness for animals, especially horses, hummingbirds and her beloved dogs. Char was a supportive mother, loyal friend, good neighbor and will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and love for life.
Char took pride in her community and was active in several civic groups including Women's Improvement Club of Corona, Corona Chamber of Commerce and the Corona Historical Society. She was honored to receive a "lifetime" achievement award from the Chamber of Commerce.
Char was preceded in death by her parent Jack and Eva Leeson, sister Marcia Ryan and longtime companion Richard Collins. She is survived by three sons Mark, Kevin (Ilonka), Jon and daughter Lori Halzle (Mike) along with 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren with another one on the way and 1 great-great grandchild.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Eagle Glen Golf Club November 12th at 11 AM.
