Cheryl "Cherie" Susan Dondanville, 75, of Riverside, California, passed away peacefully in Eastvale, CA, on September 20, 2020, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Cherie was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to the late Verne and Bernice Palmer on September 3, 1945. She is a graduate of Pasadena High School and Pasadena City College. Her greatest achievements were raising her two daughters and watching them grow up and create families of their own. She treasured her grandchildren and enjoyed traveling, especially aboard cruise ships. She was also an advocate for rescuing and adopting cats from local adoption agencies. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband of almost 36 years, Donald Dondanville; daughter and son-in-law, Bill and Kimberly Christensen of Eastvale, CA; daughter and son-in-law Frank and Kristin Barbarossa of Corona, CA; and grandchildren: Braden Compton, Jordan Compton, Emma Barbarossa, and Nicholas Barbarossa. It would be wrong to say that Cherie lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Cherie stayed strong. Through her, those who were closest to her know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. Her strongest trait was the belief that quitting was not an option. Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm on October 5, 2020, at Riverside National Cemetery with Pastor John Bos of Corona Friends Church, officiating. RSVP is required due to current Covid-19 capacity restrictions. A private burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Thomas Miller Mortuary. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society in honor of Cherie and her valiant courage and strength.
