CHRISTABEL CAST MARCINKO BORN: April 25, 1921 DIED: April 18, 2017 AGE: 95 Christabel “Cast” Marcinko, was born in Marshall Wisconsin to Albert and Margaret (Calkins) Cast. After graduating from high school she went to work for the Maritime Commission in Chicago, IL. She went to work in Washington, D.C as a Court Reporter during World War 2. It was at that time that she met and married a young Marine from Pennsylvania, Andrew John Marcinko. They were married in New York City at the Little Church Around the Corner. They started their married life in San Diego at Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Chris was able to transfer to work at Naval Air Station Coronado Island. She stayed in San Diego while Andy went to fight in the Korean War. Upon returning from Korea they transferred to the Marine Base at Barstow, CA where their only child, a daughter, Mary Margaret, was born in 1955. Chris then worked for the Barstow Unified School District as a school secretary at the same elementary school that Mary attended, Cameron. Chris went back to work at the Barstow Marine Base as a secretary and retired after being the secretary to the base General. In 1968 during retirement they built a home in Big Bear City, California, started a pool table repair business, and travelled the world; making several trips to visit their daughter and her family in South Africa. After the loss of her husband in 1993 she moved in with her daughter and her family in Riverside, CA. She enjoyed spending many hours as a Volunteer at Kaiser Riverside Medical Center. She is predeceased by a brother Quentin, sisters Lois, Margaret and husband Andy. She is survived by daughter Mary Marcinko, M.D. son-in-law Graham Scott, M.D., grandsons Andrew and Evan. Funeral services will be held at the Riverside National Cemetary on April 25th, 2017 at 10 am. Her 96th birthday!
