Connie Loya

December 8, 1920 — February 20, 2017

Connie Loya reached her final destination in life, heaven, on February 20th, 2017 at the age of 96. She was surround by all her beloved children. Born Consensia Perez, December 8, 1920 in Santa Paula, California. Connie was born into a loving family. Daughter of Francisco and Juana Perez, younger sister to Maria Marcos and brother Epifanio. She then became the older sister to Lucy and John. Her life took a major change when her parents passed away before she had turned 9 years old. Going from a loving family, to becoming orphaned and then her siblings being separated was devastating. Since Lucy was very young she was given to foster parents. Mom along with her older sister Maria Marcos and younger brother John were given to an aunt and uncle and relocated to North Hollywood. It was there that their lives and spirits were further affected forever. Physical and mental abuse was commonplace in that household. Mom and younger brother John survived, but Maria Marcos did not. Sister Lucy was spared from abuse; she thrived in foster care. Mom was never able to find out what happened to her big sister Maria Marcos. The abuse continued throughout their teen years. Mom and John were scarred but became stronger in the process. Later in life she even forgave her abusers. Mom then met Arthur Loya and his family who also lived there in the North Hollywood barrio of Orcasitas. Mom immediately fell in love with the entire Loya family. Arthurs sisters quickly became her best friends, his parents Santiago and Petra became surrogate parents. But, more importantly Mom fell romanticly in love with Arthur. Arthur and Connie married December 31st, 1937, in St. Charles de Borremeo Catholic Church, North Hollywood. It was a beautiful wedding full of love and hope. Arthur and Connie Loya immediately began to create what would become a family that today numbers well over 100 decendents. Their first child Gilbert Arthur was born September 6th, 1938, followed by Virginia Lillian born March 6th, 1940; Patricia Ann born March 16th, 1942; Christina Marie born April l8th, 1944; Stella Teresa born September 21st, 1949; Arthur John born July 15th, 1952; Michael Anthony born August 4th, 1956; Victoria Joyce born September 23rd, 1958 and John Edgar born November 17th, 1960. The family suffered through the passing of Arthur Loya in February 2010; Gilbert Arthur Loya in October 2013, and Victoria Joyce Loya in 2015. But, the family has thrived and multiplied very quickly and continues to grow. This is Moms legacy. Moms story and legacy began and continued with family. Mom loved all of her babies. And, that was how she spent her last minutes here on earth. Puckering her lips for a last kiss and showing us that love can be given until the very last breath. It is her love that keeps this family moving forward. It is her love that has kept this family together. Mom will always be the heart and soul of this family long after her passing. Thank you Mama for your creation called Loya Family. We will continue to blossom because of you. “Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom” Visitation Location Not Available Tuesday 3/7, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Service Location Not Available Tuesday 3/7, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Cemetery Riverside National Cemetery Staging Area #4 Thursday 1/1
