Consuelo Garcia

Consuelo (Connie) Leon Garcia went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 13 with her family by her side. Consuelo was born on January 2, 1924 in Riversde, California to Primitivo Leon and Rosario Jimenez Leon. Shortly after birth her mother passed away and her father let her Godparents Francisco and Juana Arellano raise her in El Modena Orange, California. They later relocated to Corona, where she met and married the love of her life, Serafin S. Garcia and together they raised their family in Corona. During her life she worked for a short while at Foothill Lemon Company and later when Serafin was just starting to work as a Policeman with the Corona PD, Consuelo was asked to accompany women prisoners to the Riverside County Jail, therefore becoming one of the first Matrons to do so. Consuelo was a very good cook of Mexican food, loved to sew and crochet. She enjoyed her soap operas, game shows and watching ice skating, but her greatest joy in life were her 14 grandchildren, her 18 great grandchildren and her great great grandson. Consuelo is survived by her daughter, Lupe (Charlie) Caldera, of Pomona, son, Tony of Ontario, son, Frank (Priscilla) of Costa Mesa, daughter Deloris (Larry) of Lake Arrowhead, son, Mike (Lisa) Naples, Florida and daughter Mary Ann Martinez, Consuelo is preceded in death by her husband Serafin (2004) and daughter, Diana (2010) We are grateful to have had you in our lives so long. “There is nothing like a Mothers Love” Amen to that!
