David Vaughn Stukey was born in Minnesota and passed away at the age of 77 in Upland. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; daughter, Shaylene (Michael) Cortez; grandsons Jesse Jeremy Cortez and Steven Thorp; his sister, Carol Bryan; mother-in-law Norma Jones; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Bella. He was predeceased by his daughter, Karlene Stukey-Thorp, last year. Dave spent most of his life in Corona where he graduated from Corona High School in 1957. He started working at the age of 12 in the family businesses in Corona which included the Standard Oil gas station, Stukeys Rental Equipment, and Stukeys Lawnmower Shop. He was a Captain with the Corona Fire Department until multiple on-the-job injuries forced him to retire from the career he loved. He enjoyed serving the public which was instilled in him from an early age and continued throughout his career. He then moved to Rancho Cucamonga with his wife Cindy. In his off time, he loved to fish and travel, and spent every other year for 10 years on the canals in England and Wales working the locks while Cindy would maneuver the boat. However, his passion was cruising and with his wife Cindy, they traveled all over the world as he would always have the next trip planned in the back of his mind. He also loved nice cars and always wished he kept his 57 Corvette. He helped both daughters rebuild classic cars, and could be found watching Nascar on weekends. He became obsessed working on Suduko puzzles and worked on two or three daily to keep his mind sharp. He and his “baby doll” Bella took daily walks through the adjoining park nearby. Dave was celebrating his 50th year with the Corona Elks Lodge serving in various capacities as needed. He enjoyed visits at the other lodges in the southeast district. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at 10 a.m., at Thomas Miller Mortuary in Corona with a celebration of life gathering at the Corona Elks Lodge thereafter. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or JDRF (for Type 1 Diabetes research) which he passionately supported. Memorial Location Not Available Tuesday 7/25, 10:00 am - 11:00 am
