Dennis Reed Jensen (1954-2025)
On April 1, 2025, Dennis Reed Jensen passed away at his home of 38 years in Riverside, CA of natural causes. He was born October 29, 1954 in Clearfield, Utah at Hill AFB, the first child of Reed David Jensen & his wife Donna Janete Hutchings. He moved all around as a child, living in Utah, Idaho, Montana, and finally graduating with honors from Sammamish High School in Bellevue, Washington in 1973. While starting at Brigham Young University on an Army ROTC scholarship, he met his wife in the first class they were enrolled in June 1973. He was called to a two-year mission in California in January 1974, and spent 6 months in Riverside, which he came to love. When he was released, he married his sweetheart, Robyn Lynne Savage of Tustin, California in March 1976 in the Los Angeles Temple. They went back to school at BYU, where Dennis obtained a B.A. in Economics in 1980, and a J.D. degree in 1983. Dennis then served in the Army as a First Lieutenant at Fort Sill, OK, then as a Captain of Field Artillery in Hanau, Germany. In 1987, the Jensen family moved to Riverside, and Dennis was employed as a lawyer at the firm of Garrett & Jensen, where he remained for 31 years until retirement in 2018.
Dennis enjoyed collecting and listening to classical music. He and his wife were members of the Community Concert Association for 25 years, traveling all over Southern California to attend concerts. He also liked to travel--Europe, Brazil, Southern Mexico, Hawaii, Canada, China, and 49 states in the lower U.S. A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was a master teacher and served whenever he was asked to teach. He loved the scriptures, the doctrine of Christ, and the mysteries of heaven. He became interested in Family History, and along with Robyn, serving as Directors of the Riverside West Family History Center. His main interest was not genealogy per se, but in finding out how his ancestors lived their lives. He took several genealogy trips back East to help Robyn research her American ancestry. Dennis also had an extensive library where he pursued his interests in Religion, Politics, Economics, and Philosophy. In the last few years, he also enjoyed Hallmark movies, keeping track of those he had watched. But most of all, he loved his family, seeking to see all of them every year, even though they were spread around. He would call all his children & his mother, sending out a newsletter every week to inform them about what was new with everybody else, adding tidbits about his past. He kept a journal, which extended to over 100 volumes, and tidbits from these were added to his newsletters, too.
His is survived by his wife Robyn and their six children: Cheryl Lynne Jensen of Mentone, CA; Cecilia Marie Nettles (Sam) of Florence, Colorado; Aaron Paul Jensen (Kayley) of Mars, Pennsylvania; Clarisse Michelle Streeter of Mesa, Arizona; Allen Reed Jensen (Yohely) of Bristol, Connecticut; and Arik Daniel Jensen (Natasha) of Humble, Texas. He and Robyn have 16 grandchildren: Joseph & Miles Nettles; Glenn, Sarah & Bobby Jensen (Paul & Kayley); Evelyn, Felicity, Lydia & Ruth Streeter; Sammy, Mia & Valeria Jensen (Allen & Yohely), and Kenneth, Kira, Jaina & Daniel Jensen (Arik & Natasha).
