After graduating from Corona High School, Mitch was drafted into the U.S. Army at age 20 and served as a Combat Medic from September 4,1952 to September 5, 1954, in the 3rd Infantry Division, 15th Regiment, Easy Company, fighting in the Chorwon Valley and Kumsong Salient at Outpost Harry.
