Derick Ahmed Michael Yunoos

Derick Ahmed Michael Yunoos, 79 years old, passed away with grace and poise on November 3, 2019 at the Loma Linda VA Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Derick came to the United States as a young man from Burma. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, from 1959-1963. He was a devout Catholic, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. A successful business man in the textile industry; Derick loved country music and western movies. Derick was a transplant from Northern California to Southern California; he always found time to watch his San Francisco Giants and 49ers. Derick's beautiful smile was often on display as he loved to laugh and joke when surrounded by his family and friends. In retirement, Derick's passion to help others showed in the ministry work he did for his church. He tirelessly served in numerous roles throughout the church. Derick worked in prison ministry, bereavement ministry and visiting of the sick. He was Master of Ceremonies for the Diocese of San Bernardino. Derick was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and a Sir of the Holy Sepulchre. Derick is survived by his wife of 47 years, Soli; daughters, Maria Arnold and Denise Free; sons, Nathan Arnold and James Free; grandchildren, Andrew Arnold, Matthew Arnold, Delaney Free and Jack Free; niece, Julia Haugh and nephew, Joseph Santos; sister Denise Barber. Derick is also survived by and dearly loved by his family in Monterey, California, Australia and England. A Rosary service will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Corona beginning at 4pm followed by viewing until 6 pm. Funeral Mass Service will be held Friday, November 8, 2019 at St. Edward Catholic Church at 1:30 pm. Derick will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Derick has requested a donation be made to St. Edward School, in Corona, CA Guardian Angel Fund to support Catholic school education. Visitation St. Edward Catholic Church 417 W.
