Diane Archuleta lived a beautiful 81 years as the matriarch of a large family beside her beloved late husband and best friend, Dan Archuleta; her five children, Jo Lynne, Chris, Daniel, Tony, and Greg; her 15 grandchildren, Mathew, Tawnee, Isabel, Jacqlyn, Emily, Bart, Kyle, Kaylen, Dakota, Mackenzie, Allison, Evangeline, Regan, Riley, and Skylar; and her eight great-grandchildren, Kaden, Jaxson, Madison, Archer, Chloe, Olivia, Freya, and Maverick. While her love poured deep through them all, it did not stop there. Diane dedicated her life to becoming a friend to everyone she met, whether that was the kid in the neighborhood, or the lady standing in line at the grocery store.
She lived her life full of light. From her early years, her passion was pulled to the arts. She loved singing, dancing, playing piano, acting, drawing, painting and more. Her love of performing never diminished and until she physically couldn’t, she was always the first one up to sing, dance, tell a story or crack a joke on any and every occasion. She was committed to giving to the community. This was first seen during her children's younger years in the form of coaching youth sports as well as helping with school plays. If there was something her kids wanted to do, she was there ready to support and she had no desire to stay on the sidelines. Diane coached softball and baseball… but the Archuleta family's greatest love and dedication belonged to soccer. You could often find Diane on the soccer fields, coaching, cheering, refereeing, and supporting her children, her husband, and eventually even several of her grandchildren. In the 90’s Diane began working at Home Gardens Elementary School as the art and computer aide teacher. Here is where her love of bringing art to the community really flourished. Her free time was often spent prepping materials and coming up with creative projects that could engage kids of all ages.
Her “retirement” years were spent continuing to donate her energy, time, and money to ensure art was accessible to anyone interested. This was especially felt through her work in conjunction with the Corona Art Association and the classes she created for students of all ages with disabilities. Not only did she introduce art, she created a welcoming and supportive environment for all. You couldn’t have a conversation with Diane, without her proudly sharing about her class and her students.
Diane’s life's mission was to give; to her family and friends, her students and anyone lucky enough to meet her. If you know Diane, you know her greatest wish would be for others to remember her lessons in kindness, in giving with nothing expected in return, and finding the best in any situation. While the world will shine a little less bright without her in it, her impact will continue to live through us all.
