Donald “Big Don” Louis Coulter

October 19, 1932 — March 2, 2017

Donald Louis Coulter, born October 19, 1932 in Los Angeles, California the only child to Betty Kellis-Coulter and Louis Orin Coulter. His father passed when he was 9months old. At 17 years old he left Metropolitan High School and joined the U.S. Merchant Marines, February 1949, with permission from his mother, and served as a Messman on the Twin Falls Victory ship. After leaving the U.S. Merchant Marines, he enlisted in the Army on October 1949. Where he served as Private First Class in the 25th Infantry Division until he retired from the Army October 1952. During his military career, he served in the Korean War, which he rarely spoke of. For his military services he was awarded the Army Occupation Medal (Japan), Korea Service Medal W/3 BZ Service Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Presidential Unit Citation Korea and the United Nations Service Medal. On May 25, 1952, he married the love of his life Eveyleen Francis Oseletto, aka Franki but he always called her Ace, in Washoe County, Nevada. They had two (2) children Holly and Donnie and lived in Pittsburg, California until the early 1960s when they moved to Bell Gardens, California and from there they moved to Cerritos, California in the 1970s. Both children got married in 1982 and gave Don and Franki three (3) grandchildren: Reed (born 1982), Donnie, II (born 1983) and Stacey (born 1986). In 1988 they moved to Corona, California to be near their children and grandchildren. Don worked as a truck driver for nearly 30 years and retired from Roadway trucking in 1994. He loved traveling and boating at Lake Havasu with family and friends. Unfortunately, he lost the love of his life Franki in December 1996. After her death Don bought and sold many Harley Davidsons and vehicles, and started traveling with his friends to various places in the United States. He looked forward to riding his Harley every weekend with his various friends. One of his most memorable Harley trips was going to Sturgis. He had a triple bypass in 1998 and in 2000 his son Donnie and his family decided to move in with him and care for him. Two (2) of his grandchildren Donnie, II and Stacey gave him two (2) great-grandchildren Olivia Jayne (born 2012) and Revan Quinn (born 2014). Don has enjoyed hanging out with his friends, getting together with his VA buddies and up until 2 years ago, riding his Harley with his Harley buddies and he enjoyed spending time with his family. Since giving up riding his Harley his new-found love was Hot Rods, which he has had many of. He lived a good full life doing what he loved most. He has survived by his son Donald Quinn and wife Tina, his daughter Holly and husband Darrell. Grandchildren - grandson Donald Louis, II and wife Tanya, granddaughter Stacey and fianc Jon and grandson Reed. Great-grandchildren Olivia Jayne and Revan Quinn and his many loving family and friends. He will forever be in our hearts.
