We lost our beloved father, Donald Galleano, unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 2nd. He will be deeply missed by so many people, not just in our family but also in our community. Our father was known for his outsized personality, his wit and his sarcasm. Among his many great qualities, he was one of the most generous people you would ever meet and touched countless lives. We have been amazed by all the stories posted online about the impact he made. Those who had the pleasure of meeting our dad know that he was the consummate entertainer. Whether he had met you only once or had known you for 40 years, you were always welcome in his home. He would invite you in, make you a plate of food and pour you a glass of his famous red Zinfandel or his cocktail of choice, a perfect Manhattan, which he drank in honor of his dear late mother, Mary. He cooked like no other, easily throwing together a delicious meal for a casual Sunday get together without the need for a recipe. Many days he could be found sitting in his favorite chair watching an old western movie and enjoying a cigar, surrounded by one of his thousands of friends. He was a man who truly valued personal relationships with people from all walks of life. Needless to say, his influence in the wine industry and on the local and regional water boards on which he served was tremendous and will remain long after his time on this earth. Our dad's legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren and of course through his wine. He took pride in the craft of old-school wine making and preserving history for future generations. Inspired by his work as a farmer, he taught us the importance of water conservation and of taking care of this planet. We appreciate your prayers and kind words, which havecomforted us in this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of our father may be made to Loma Linda University Health, Office of Philanthropy, P.O. Box 2000, Loma Linda, CA 92354.
