Donald George Miller

July 19, 1947 — May 12, 2019

As anyone who knew him would expect, Don Miller was surrounded by love and laughter when he died on May 12. He was diagnosed with Stage III esophageal cancer on January 11 and fought mightily with this unforgiving adversary until the very end. Son of Lee and Bette (Dougherty) Miller, Don was born and raised in Compton, California, before moving to Indiana in 1965. He spent 33 years in the Midwest, mostly in Lafayette, Indiana, where he was married to Bev (Castner) Miller for 28 of those years. In 1998, Don returned to Southern California where he eventually settled in Corona with wife Jean Cline-Miller. In addition to Jean, he is survived by brother Bob Miller and sister-in law Debbie, daughter Jenny Miller Pratt and son-in-law Wayne, granddaughter Madison Pratt, stepdaughter Erin Cline Davis and son-in-law Byron, stepson Ethan Cline and daughter-in-law Kristin, and too many extended family members and friends to name individually. His voice could fill a room. His commitment to family and friends (and the Dodgers) was inspiring. His sideline antics as a coach, fan, volunteer and father were legendary. His delight in being a grandfather was undeniable. His breakfast sandwiches (among many other things) will be missed. Special thanks to the staff at City of Hope Corona and the men and women at Corona Fire Station #2. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Riverside Philharmonic. Family and friends will celebrate a life well lived on July 20.
