Dorothy Jean HendersonOctober 12, 1935 - December 2, 2021 Dorothy Henderson was born October 12, 1935 in Bay Springs Mississippi to Georgia J. Millsap and Maxine Chapman. Dorothy went home to be with the Lord on December 2, 2021. Dorothy graduated from Bay Springs Colored Vocational High School in 1954. She left Bay Springs, Mississippi and moved to Joliet, Illinois. Dorothy pursued a career in social work with the Illinois State Department of Children and Family Services. During her time with DCFS she was responsible for recruiting foster care facilities. Dorothy also worked as a director of a Supplement Security Income Alert Program (SSI). She received her Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Science in 1981 from the National College of Education. Dorothy later enjoyed several years of substitute teaching in the local Joliet Public School System. Dorothy attended Central Presbyterian Church where she became a Deacon as well as a high ranking member of the Presbyterian Session. She was preceded in death by her Parents Georgia J Millsap and Maxine Chapman, Her two brothers Sellas Millsap and Leroy Millsap. Her three sisters Melva Ducksworth-Jukes, Ernestine (Tina) Thompson and Erma Shelby. Her Son Keith Henderson, Nephew Greg Ducksworth, Nieces Monica Mclain Shelby and Shantel Bouie Shelby and Renee Ducksworth, Great Nephew McKendly Ducksworth. Great grandson Stevon Lee Dawson. Dorothy is survived in death by Her Daughter Karen Ann (Stan) Kennnedy and Son Karl (Celia) Henderson. Grand children Stephen S. Dawson, Alex (Amy) Kennedy, Raymond (Allison) Henderson and Karlee Henderson. Great Grand children Stashia Dawson, Stephen T. Dawson, Stephen S. Dawson Jr., Ah'Nadia Dawson, Great, Great Grand children Nia Dawson and Ah'Mire Dawson and a host of Nieces, Nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
