Drucilla Eunice Valfre Rowell

Drucilla Tafoya Valfre-Rowell February 6, 1928 - September 18, 2016 Drucilla Tafoya Valfre-Rowell passed away peacefully in hospice surrounded by her family on September 18, 2016 at the age of 88. The youngest of five sisters along with her younger brother Joe Tafoya, she was born on February 6, 1928 in San Diego, California. A graduate of San Diego High School, she was married following the war to Adolph A. Valfre on November 18, 1945. She soon had to learn the rigors and adventures of being a military spouse, while successfully creating a loving “home” in multiple states and countries. After Drucilla retired as the Executive Secretary to the Director of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Santa Monica, California, she enjoyed the company of friends as a member of the Senior Anglers of Escondido and a dual member of the Moose Lodge of Escondido and Kingman, Arizona. She enjoyed dancing, especially big band and country music, and was known to have a lovely alto voice. She was also very good at darts, playing pool, crossword puzzles and card games. Drucillas greatest joy, however, was always the love she shared with her immediate and extended family. Years after Adolph passed away, she was again blessed to meet and marry a loving partner and traveling companion in Kenneth Rowell until his death in 2003. All who had the privilege to meet her were blessed by her loving, caring and kind spirit. Drucilla is survived by her brother Joe Tafoya and four of her children - Adolph Jr., Ernie, Tom and Kathryn (and preceded by her youngest son Richard who passed away in 1987), twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
