Eugene Ervin Vanderploeg

Eugene Ervin Vander Ploeg, 80, of Corona, California, died February 4, 2014 in Corona, CA. He was born July 28, 1933 in , Iowa, son of Henry and Martha VanderPloeg. Gene joined the United States Marine Corp and was a Corporal from January 1954 - January 1956. He worked 35 years at Pacific Smelting Company and also 18 years as a checker for Costco in Yorba Linda, where he had wonderful memories, along with the bad. He was always expressing his great times with his co-workers; who knew him at “Geno”. Gene was a very nice, kind loving guy, he loved bowling, fishing and yard work. If someone needed a helping hand, he would give you two. If you needed anything, he would help anyway he could. He was just that kind of guy. Gene was a great father and grandfather. Surviving are Sons, Randy and Rick VanderPloeg of Corona; Grandchildren, Matthew Vander Ploeg, Nicole Vander Ploeg, Victoria Vander Ploeg and Joyce Catalano; Great Grandchildren, Ashley Miner, Austin Michael Vander Ploeg and Clayton Scott Jecker. Gene was preceded in death by Father, Henry John VanderPloeg, Mother, Martha VanderPloeg and his beloved wife Irene Vander Ploeg with whom he was married to for 56 years. Memorial Services will be held at Thomas Miller Mortuary, February 21, 2014 at 10:00 am with Pastor JT Thomas officiating.
