On Monday, March 22, 2021, Francisca "Paquita" Razo, our sweet mom and loving grandma, passed away at the age of 82. Francis was born in the quaint town of Coyame in Chihuahua, Mexico. It was there, as a child working alongside her mother in their fields, that she developed her love of gardening. At the tender age of 17, she met Richard Razo. It was love at first sight for both of them. She was whisked away to her family home in Coyame but, after six months of letter correspondence, their love grew stronger and her father relented. They were married on June 2, 1956. They lived in El Paso, Texas for a few years before heading out to Orange County, California in 1960 bringing with them their three young children Richard Jr., Albert and Patricia. It was here in California that they settled and expanded their family with four more sons; Mike, Mario, Edward and Arthur, and another daughter, Cynthia. As a young mother, she often volunteered in her community and was a member of the PTA. As her children grew, she worked outside the home as a housekeeper and then for the County of Orange as a custodian. She retired early to care for her grandchildren and continued to care for even great-grandchildren. Family was Francis' joy and motivation and her meals were the lure to bring the family together because no one could resist mom's delicious cooking. If you really knew Francis, you knew that she was a jokester and storyteller with a witty and wonderful sense of humor. She was also a kind and giving soul. Her home was always open to family and friends, especially those in need. Her generosity had no limits as she often prepared food boxes from her own pantry to distribute to her neighbors in need. She was well known and loved in her community. Francis was raised in the Catholic faith. It was in her early forties that she came to have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus. Since then her devout love for the Lord, prayers for her family and friends, and her words of wisdom and encouragement through her faith, have been an example to all who knew her. Francis was preceded in death by her husband Richard and her son Arthur. She is survived by: seven children, Richard, Albert, Patricia, Mike, Mario, Edward, and Cynthia, 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and two sisters.
