June 16, 1936 — May 22, 2022

Frank Moncivias Muoz, 85, of Corona, CA, passed away May 22, 2022, with his family by his bedside. While we cannot imagine a world without him in it, he will continue to live on in our hearts with all the beautiful memories we hold. Frank leaves behind Christy, his beloved wife of 49 years; daughters Tami Muoz, Jeni Horvath, and Amy Sanchez; son-in-laws Jason Horvath and Zach Sanchez; grandsons Tyler, Lucas, Noah, Jackson, and Liam; sister Margaret Esquivel and brother-in-law Chava Esquivel; sister Gloria Guerea; brother John Muoz and sister-in-law Rena Muoz. Frank has over 50 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Erma Muoz; his sister Rosa Del Castillo; brother-in-law Eddie Del Castillo; and nephews George "Doody" Guerea and Jonathan Holguin. Frank, or "Pelon," as family and friends would call him, was born in the Foothills of Corona on June 16, 1936. Frank worked hard alongside his family in the fields from his early childhood, picking citrus, grapes, and cotton. Frank loved to play softball when he wasn't helping his family or working other odd jobs. His love for competition continued in high school, where he played football. Upon graduating from Corona Senior High School in 1955, Frank attended Chaffey Community College. Though he was not the biggest in stature, his heart and work ethic made him a standout football player. Frank transferred to Colorado State University with hopes of continuing his education and playing football. However, shortly after transferring, Frank was drafted by the U.S. Army. He loved to tell stories about the people he met and all the places he visited while serving. Frank received an honorable discharge in 1961. Upon returning from the Army, Frank enrolled at Cal Poly Pomona. He completed his BS in accounting and graduated in 1964. Frank began work at Johns Manville. Over his 30+ year career, Frank worked his way up to the position of plant controller, where he served until he retired in 1997. Most importantly, at Johns Manville, he met his Sweetie, Christy, in February 1972. The two were married in December 1972 and began their own family in Corona in 1975. As a lifelong resident of Corona, Frank was ever-present in his community. He was a Corona Breakfast Lions Club member for 30 years, and also was involved in the First Congregational Church of Corona. Additionally, Frank coached weightlifting at the local YMCA and Corona Pop Warner Football for ten years. Once his girls were old enough to play sports, he transitioned to coaching Corona Girls Softball, AYSO, and Centennial High School Girls Softball. In retirement, he golfed every Tuesday with his buddies, the "Little D's." Frank was a die-hard Dodgers and Rams fan. However, his favorite teams to cheer for were those of his grandkids. He loved attending practices and never missed a baseball, football, or water polo game. Frank was the pillar of the Muoz family, an honest man, a mentor, and a trusted friend to so many. He was a stranger to no one. He loved telling stories and imparting his wisdom onto others. Frank always had a positive outlook on life and valued family above all else. He will be remembered as one of the greats; a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, and friend. Thank you for leaving your mark on the world; your legacy will hold strong in the Muoz familia.
