Frederick Ronald Porter, age of 74 died on Monday, October 8, 2018, in Corona, California at Corona Regional Medical Center. From his birth in River Rouge, Michigan on March 17, 1944 until his death, Fred spent his life pursuing adventure, gaining knowledge and enriching others through teaching and sharing. Although born in Michigan, Fred spent some of his younger years living in Germany, and eventually ending up in California as a child following his fathers military assignments. After spending his teen years in San Bernardino, California, Fred joined the United States Army in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1965. After working for Mobil Oil as a marketing executive, Fred pursued his passion and entered the teaching profession in 1975, where he taught in the Orange Unified School District at Riverdale Elementary school for 31 years, teaching 6th grade before retiring in 2006. In 2001, he was recognized as Teacher of the Year by Walmart. Fred devoted his life to educating, tutoring and teaching and he used his school, tutoring business, and personal devotion to research, to share his knowledge with anyone that was willing to listen. Fred was preceded into death by his parents Annie Laura Greenard Porter, Willie B. Porter and his sister Janet Johnson. Fred is survived by his one and only son Frederick Ronald Porter Jr. “Ron”, who he affectionately called “WABBIT”, Rons wife Rahesha Shawan May-Porter, his two grandsons Frederick Roshawn Porter, Kameron Porter, and a host of family and friends spread around the country and world. Fred Porter was known to his family and friends as Fred, Dad and Grandfather, but he was also a Teacher, Scholar, Researcher, Musician, Singer, Painter, Motorcycle Rider, Veteran, Pilot, Friend, Intellectual, Adventurer and all around Renaissance Man! Fred Porters memorial service will be held at Thomas Miller Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, October 17th at 1pm.
