Gary C Liesenfelt Sr December 15, 1952 to January 16, 2019 Gary was born on December 15, 1952 at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond, Indiana to parents Charles F Liesenfelt and Joyce (Erlandson) Liesenfelt. He attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic School in Highland, Indiana. His family moved to Walnut, CA where he attended Walnut High School. Gary was drafted into Selective Service on September 11, 1972 choosing the U.S. Navy; serving on the USS Long Beach during the Vietnam War and received his Honorable Discharge June 11, 1974 as a Seaman Recruit. On March 1, 1986 he married his wife of 32 years, Joy E Dettman. Gary was blessed with his son in the fall of 1986. In September 1999 they purchased their home where he has resided for the last 20 years. Gary earned his EMT-1A (Emergency Medical Technician-Ambulance) on July 8, 1993. Gary became an official member of American Legion Post 291 in Newport Beach Ca in 2014 as well as the American Legion Yacht Club, where he volunteered with the Disabled Veterans and Wounded Warriors harbor cruises. He loved to fish, his boat and his loyal German Shepherds. Any hobby that put him in nature or on the water was the best and the place to do it at was Black Meadow Landing at Parker Dam, CA. Gary was the first patient for the Loma Linda VA Hospice Program which provided him the most gracious nurse Nicole for 7 days. He attained the age of 66 years and 32 days. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and youngest brother James A Liesenfelt. He leaves to mourn his wife Joy E (Dettman) Liesenfelt, son Gary C Liesenfelt Jr., brothers Gregory E (Valerie) Liesenfelt, Jeffrey P Liesenfelt, nieces Megan Gonzalez, Jennifer Liesenfelt and several great nieces and nephews.
