George Albert Armstrong, 75, of Riverside California, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin Armstrong, and Dorothy Moran, his brother Richard Armstrong, and his oldest daughter Janet Schneider. George was born on May 14, 1944 in Freeport New York to Edwin A. Armstrong and Dorothy P. Moran and had 4 brothers and 2 sisters. George grew up on the Central Coast of California and was a longtime resident of Riverside. George enlisted in the United States Navy on November 14, 1961. During the Vietnam war era, George served on the USS Kitty Hawk and USS Midway as a Plane Captain, Aviation Mechanic and Electrician. After a commendable career, George was honorably discharged on November 13, 1967. George loved working with his hands and was a handyman for nearly 20 years. George also enjoyed spending his time working on cars. He lived an extremely adventurous life and lived in many different places. He is survived by his 7 children: Julie Fista, George Schneider, Scott Georgette, James Armstrong, Tina Barrentine, Ashley Rodgers and Brandon Armstrong. He has 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his grandson Austin Armstrong, who helped care for him during his later years as the two had a very close relationship. George has been laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery and on July 22, 2020 we will gather to say goodbye with full military honors.
