Gerold Bernard Haverman, 81, lately of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA passed away on January 23rd, 2026 following a dementia diagnosis.
Gerold, or Jerry to his family and friends, was born on June 15th, 1944 in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of Frank Haverman and Evelyn Collins Haverman.
Jerry graduated from Pius X High School in 1962, then went on to attend California State University, Long Beach until he was drafted into the army during the Vietnam war. He received compassionate leave at the end of his enlistment to help his mother care for his ill father until his passing in 1969.
Jerry married Linda Diane Lawler on October 19, 1974 at St. Dominic Savio in Bellflower, CA with Father DiFalco officiating. Linda entered the marriage with one daughter, Dawn Renee whom Jerry adopted. Together, Jerry and Linda had three children, Teresa Anne, Christopher Charles and Erin Nicole. They were married for 51 years until his death.
Jerry worked for over 40 years in the steel and wire industry for such companies as Industrial Steel and Wire and Interwire Group, from which he retired in 2015. He worked in various roles in sales and management, but enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships he formed working in sales the most. During his managemnt years he enjoyed mentoring young people and giving them the opportunity to reach their full potential in the business. Following retirement, Jerry and Linda enjoyed traveling to many of America's most famous landmarks including Mount Rushmore and Washington, D.C.
Jerry was a devout Catholic for much of his life and was a member of St. Raymond's Catholic Church in Downey, CA and San Francisco Solano in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA.
Jerry lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and many of our fondest memories included attending games with his children.
Remaining to cherish Jerry's memory are his wife, Linda Diane; children Dawn Crawford, Teresa Navarro, Christopher Haverman and Erin Cragg; grandchildren Amber Crawford, Brittani Armstrong, Dylan Crawford, Aiden Crawford, Jacob Navarro, Juliette Navarro, Henry Cragg and Eleanor Palermo; great-grandchildren Greggory Crawford, Zoe Armstrong and Graham Turner; brother Frank Haverman.
Preceding Jerry in death are his mother Evelyn Collins Haverman, his father Frank Haverman and his sister, June Guzy.
Funeral will be held January 29, 2026 at 11:00am at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Corona, CA with Father Jose officiating. Inurnment will be at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
Memorial donations in Jerry's memory may be directed to Susan & Charles Berghoff Foundation (https://www.berghoff-foundation.org), which supports research into Lewy-Body dementia and other dementias.
