Harry James Mitchell age 73 of Riverside, passed away on September 21, 2018 Harry James Mitchell was born on February 25, 1945, in San Bernardino, California, and was the son of the late Romain and Rebecca Mitchell. After graduating from high school, Harry began working in construction. After many years in the field, Harry took a job working as a painter in the Corona-Norco Unified School District. During his years with the district, he became a Lead Tradesman and a Supervisor in Maintenance and Operations. It was during his tenure with the district that Harry became interested in the activities involving the Classified Union. His tenacity, contractual knowledge and skill in negations led him to become President of his local chapter. Harry loved to work, but he also loved to play. He enjoyed all types of competitive sports, but his favorite was Golf. He was a member of the Little D's Golf Club and could be found every Tuesday teeing off with his buddies. Harry loved life and often said that he was blessed to be surrounded by so many people that he loved. Family was the most important part of Harry's life. He is survived by Merlinda Esquivel, who he has loved for over 25 years. His brother Alan Mitchell, daughter Tammy Long and her husband Terry. His son Kenneth Mitchell, daughter Elizabeth Moore, daughter Tina Castro and her husband Phillip. 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Harry is also survived by his extended family, which include those that he came to love through his life spent with Merlinda. Harry believed that a family so created by more than just blood, it is created through love and he loved with all his heart.
