Hasmukh “Hash” Patel

March 12, 1949 — July 16, 2022

Hasmukh "Hash" Raojibhai Patel, 73, of Corona, California, was diagnosed earlier this year with ALS. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home, on Saturday, July 16, 2022 whilst surrounded by his loved ones. Hash was born on March 12, 1949 in Eldorate, Kenya then moved with his parents, the late Raojibhai Patel and the late Shardaben Patel, alongside his younger sister (Sapna) and younger brother (Jyotin), to Uganda for his childhood years. He studied abroad in India and then moved to the U.S. (Alabama) to study pharmacy from 1968. He then moved to London, UK in 1973 to be closer to his family and support them after they were exiled from Uganda. Hash had a fond love of cars his entire life and began his career working as a civil servant in London for the London Underground System, repairing buses at their depot in Victoria Station. Hash and his (now deceased) first wife, Uma, had a daughter and son, Jigna and Daven. The family then moved to the U.S. (Tennessee) when the children were 6 and 1, respectively. Hash owned several businesses whilst in Tennessee, and after several years moved to California to be closer to his brother where he started working for the U.S. Post Office and made many lifelong friends from his time there. As his true passion was working on cars, he also owned a repair business in Norco, California, where he built long lasting relationships with all his customers and even the next generation as they grew up. Hash also enjoyed travelling the world and experiencing new horizons, especially in his love for food, which he carried on with his current wife Smita, family, and friends. During his travels, he enjoyed making friends along the way learning about their country, culture, and food, raising a few glasses with his news friends alongside his laughter and zest for life. One of Hash's biggest accomplishments was being a father. He considered himself lucky enough to have had two amazing children with whom he shared his love of knowledge, technology, and living life to its fullest. His children, Jigna and Daven, considered their dad an awesome superhero, and even as adults, still see him that way. He was always there for them through their ups and downs and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer. Hash is survived by his wife Smita Patel (ne Dave), daughter Jigna, son Daven, brother Jyotin his wife Shaila and their children Shaneel and Malisha, and sister Sapna and her husband Jaykumar and their children, daughter Sonalee Singh (husband Daljeet and children Dylan, Siena, Aaron) and son Neil Patel (wife Neha and children Kian and Reyan).
