Hermilo Serrato

April 5, 1940 – July 27, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hermilo Serrato, who peacefully passed away on Monday, July 27th, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on April 5th in Acuitzeramo, Michoacan. Hermilo was the beloved son of Nicolas Serrato and Agripina Serrato. He grew up in Acuitzeramo, where he developed the values of hard work, faith, kindness, and devotion to family that would define his life.

On January 25, 1964 he married the love of his life, Oliva Serrato. Together they shared 62 years of marriage, building a home filled with love, laughter, faith, and countless cherished memories.

Hermilo dedicated many years to agricultural and janitorial positions with his last and longest position as a grinding machine operator before retirement. He was respected for his work ethic, generosity, dedication, and friendly disposition and took great pride in providing for his family.

Above all else, his greatest joy was his family. He never missed an opportunity to celebrate life's milestones, whether it was birthdays, graduations, baby showers, sporting events, holidays, or simple family gatherings. His presence made every occasion more meaningful, and his love was felt by everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle smile, humility, quiet strength, generosity, faith, and sense of humor. He taught those around him the importance of family, faith, integrity, hard work, and compassion through the examples he set every day. Though he was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Oliva Serrato; his children, Graciela, Rosa María, Sylvia, Ana Lilia and Dianna Vanessa; his 13 grandchildren, Kristoffer, Ashley, Eli, Brian, Nathaniel, Giana, Jonathan, Maija, Savannah, Vanessa, Ava, Mia and Mateo ; his 3 great-grandchildren, Jude, Marlo and River; two more great-grandchildren whom he eagerly awaited and whose lives will forever be connected to his legacy Ellieanna Rose and baby boy Magaña; his siblings, Elena, Oralia, Angela and Nicolas; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice staff, and St. Edwards Catholic Church for the compassion, care, and support shown during his final days.

A Rosary/Viewing/Visitation and Funeral Mass will be held on August 14th at 9:00 AM -11:00 AM at St. Edwards Catholic Church. 417 W. Grand Blvd., Corona, CA 92882.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on August 14th at 11:30 at Corona Sunnyslope Cemetery. 1125 Rimpau Ave, Corona, CA 92879.

Following the services, family and friends are invited to join us for a Celebration of Life.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that Hermilo leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love, quiet strength, deep faith, and a family that will continue to honor the values he lived by. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in our hearts.
