In Loving Memory of Irma V. Pitt

February 1, 1940 – October 19, 2025

Irma V. Pitt, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born in South Trinidad on February 1, 1940, to Leeloy Carr and Elvira Dubé Myers. Irma lived a life grounded in faith, compassion, and love, leaving behind a legacy that will be forever cherished.

A proud graduate of George Brown College, Irma married the love of her life, Gordon A. Pitt (including making her own wedding dress), on February 25, 1970. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, love, laughter, and hospitality—a place where everyone felt welcome.

Irma served the City of Los Angeles, Engineering Department, as a Clerk for 27 years before retiring in 2010. Known for her kindness, work ethic, integrity, and generosity, she left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Faith was at the heart of Irma’s life. She loved reading her Bible, meditating on The Daily Word, and praying for others. Her steadfast love of God guided her life and will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

She found joy in spending time with family, listening to music, watching Dancing with the Stars, enjoying her favorite soap operas (The Young and the Restless, All My Children, and General Hospital), and sharing her casino winnings with others – a reflection of her generous spirit. Crossword puzzles, going out to eat, and attending church were among her favorite pastimes.

Irma cherished her many siblings— Kenrick, Carl, Peter, Robin, Fitzroy, Ossie, Oral, Pearl, Donna, Joyce, and Monica—and shared a close sisterly bond with Mariluz, Betty, Joyce, and Nelly.

She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Gordon; her children, Dana and Jenelle; her son-in-law, Gabriel; and her beloved grandson, Jaidon. She is also remembered with love by her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends in Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, Venezuela, Argentina, and United States.

To know Irma was to know faith, hope, and love – but the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13). Her gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to God will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Celebrate Irma's light—bright colors encouraged
