It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Nicholas Buechler 80, a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, great-grandfather, and dear friend. Jim passed away at his home in Corona California on June 15, 2023. Born in Schenectady NY on September 25, 1942, the son of Nicholas and Ann Buechler. Jim enlisted in the Army in December 1959 and was promoted to Specialist Fourth Class. He served as an armorer with the 80th Artillery in Vicenza, Italy. Upon his honorable discharge and return from service he married the love of his life, Maelyng Almodovar, in March 1963 in Bronx, NY. Together they built a life and family that spanned over 60 years. Jim graduated from the College of Insurance, Queens NY in 1970 with a degree in Insurance Accounting and took a position with American Life Insurance Company, which led he and Mae to sunny Northridge California. Soon after arriving in California, Jim joined Great American Insurance Company, became a Certified Internal Auditor in 1973, and spent the next 10 years with Great American in Cincinnati, Ohio. Upon promotion to Vice President, Jim and Mae moved with Great American back to Orange County California and then to Northern California in San Ramon. Jim retired in 1986 and began a second career in Real Estate with Coldwell Banker. He retired from real estate in 1999 and moved to Corona California to be near their daughters and grandchildren. While Jim achieved many professional milestones, his greatest joy came from his family. As a father, James was an unwavering source of support and guidance. He embraced the joys and challenges of parenthood, instilling in his children the values of integrity, compassion, and perseverance. James raised 3 daughters, Lisa, Christine, and Brenda, and his impact on their lives is immeasurable. James reveled in his role as a doting grandfather, showering his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with affection and wisdom. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating cherished memories that will endure through generations. His love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was boundless, and they will forever carry his spirit with them. Outside of his family, Jim was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus with 48 years of service. He was a supporter and volunteer for the Special Olympics and St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. In his leisure time, Jim and Mae enjoyed golf, bowling, and traveling together. Jim is survived by loving wife Mae, his daughters Lisa Doyle (Tom), Christine Bennett, Brenda Buechler, his grandchildren Sara Tomaras (Alex), Lauren Bonas (Mark), Lindsay Doyle, Tyler Bennett, Logan Doyle, Evan Bennett, Brayden Buechler and great grandchildren, Mary, Parks and Canyon Tomaras and Max Bonas as well as many nieces and nephews.
