James Robert Hill

James R. Hill, age 80, of Hemet CA died on March 13, 2023, at home surrounded by family. He was known as "Bob" Hill to all who knew him. He was born on August 17, 1942, in Indianapolis IN to his parents William Robert Hill and Catherine Robertson Hill. He married his wife, Lynda Cecil Hill on October 17, 1999. Bob graduated from La Habra High School in 1960. He joined the Marine Corp in September 1960 and served for four years. His love for working with people was apparent in his work career as a successful salesperson in the commercial gas industry, auto sales, and as a trainer, teaching safety and skills when driving recreational vehicles. Bob loved to travel in our motorhome, visiting friends and family across the country. He kept in contact with many friends via Facebook. He flew his remote-controlled airplane near Diamond Valley Lake with his new friends. He was very involved at church, most recently serving on the prayer team each Sunday. He was the father of four sons, being an ardent supporter of all their adventures in sports. He was proud of all of them and loved them dearly. There was a special place in his heart for his son Ryan. He was pre-deceased by his parents and his son Steven R. W. Hill (Diane). Bob is survived by his wife Lynda Hill and his sons James R. Hill, Jr. (Joan) of Boise ID, Michael L. J. Hill (Diane) of Elk Ridge UT, and Ryan J. G. Hill (Diane) of Highland CA. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy. Grandchildren are Matthew Hill, Savannah Hill Holcomb, Andrew Hill, Candice Gonce, Ashley Wachter, Steven Hill Jr., Skylar Hill, Miguel Hill, Errimaya Hill and Sezar Hill. Bob played a significant role in the lives of Lynda's grandchildren who also called him grandpa: Abigail Sneathen, Benjamin Sneathen, Katie Meyer and Ciera Meyer. Services will be held on June 16, 2023: Military honors at Riverside National Cemetery from 11:30 am to noon.
