Janice Pearl Horner was promoted to Glory on February, 19, 2023. Her family, compassionate roommates and the dutiful staff from Destiny Hospice Care were with her every minute of her final journey. Her final moments came sooner than expected, but were mercifully free of prolonged suffering. All of us feel a heavy loss, but we are grateful that she is at rest. Janice's life was filled with great hardship and pain, but she faced adversity with unrelenting resolve. Despite the fact that she was partially blind for most of her adult life, she never let this hold her back. As a lifelong learner, she earned an A.S. Degree in Liberal Arts and was an avid reader. When her eyesight began to fail, she listened to countless books and magazines from the Braille Institute. She lived life on her own terms. Whenever she would share about her problems, she'd be quick to say, "I could complain about it, but complaining never changed a thing!" Everyone describes her as being a giver. She would give the shirt off her back if she thought someone else needed it more. She regularly hosted holiday meals for those in her community who had nowhere else to go. She held a monthly coffee club meeting in her community's clubhouse. She volunteered in various ways to help those poorer than her by serving through her church. She also created a lending library in her mobile home's community center, recognizing that many kids in her community lacked regular access to books. These are just a few examples of her generosity. Much of her life, Mom was not a fan of religion. But in her later years, she developed an unwavering faith in God. She learned to live out that newfound faith through her church community and is now experiencing a greater peace than she was ever able to experience in life. I know that I will get to see her again someday. Janice is survived by her brother, Jack Kellar; sister, Judy Taxara; daughter, Ann McKellar; grandchildren Christina Corriveau and MIchael Nation; great grandchildren Elias and Lilly Nation and Isabella and Tabitha Corriveau. Janice Horner was preceded in death by her parents Winnie and John Kellar and her beloved sister, Margaret Ann Telford. Service First Presbyterian Church Friday 3/3, 10:25 am
