Jason was born and raised in Long beach, California, attended Long Beach schools, and in 2019, graduated from CSULB with degrees in Journalism and Creative Writing. During and after college he wrote articles for several publications, including "The 908". Although he enjoyed writing short stories and articles, his real passion and great talent was in writing poetry. Echoes of his voice and the depth of his feelings can be heard and felt while reading his poems. Jason loved music and media and the company of friends and family. He enjoyed many winters snowboarding with friends and the CSULB Ski and Snowboard Team. He also loved playing video games and cooking for himself and others. He always felt a deep connection with nature and spent as much as time as possible in the mountains and desert. He had recently moved to Big Bear and Running Springs to be more deeply connected to the natural world around him. Jason was always friendly and outgoing and made friends everywhere he went. His kindness, generosity and love of animals will be deeply missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know him and spend time with him. Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew Dugas, Lucie (Young) Budz and Edward Budz, and his father Anthony Briand. Jason is survived by his maternal grandmother, Judy Dugas-Cilva, his mother, Deborah Briand, his sister and brother-in-law Lauren and Marc Cilurzo, and his nephew, Ryder.
