James McCoy
October 17, 1956- August 16, 2024
Jim went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 16, 2024, at home, surrounded by his beloved wife and three children. He was 67 years old.
Jim was born on October 17, 1956, on a U.S. military base in Germany to John and Kazuko (Kajihara) McCoy. His early life was spent in various places, including Germany, Kansas, New Jersey, and Japan, before his family settled in Riverside, California. He graduated from Norte Vista High School in 1974 and later attended Riverside Community College (RCC). Jim earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business from California State University, San Bernardino, in 1988.
Jim married his high school sweetheart, Gin, and together they raised three children: John, Joshua, and Jessica. The family shared countless adventures, enjoying camping, fishing, numerous trips to Hawaii, and hunting with his sons, son-in-law, grandchildren, and many dear friends. Jim was known for his love of claw machines, rarely passing one by without winning a prize—just as he did with midway games, always bringing joy to his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Jim had a big heart, not only for his family but also for helping others through his work as an advisor and his faith. In 1981, Jim began his career with IDS/Ameriprise and dedicated over 43 years as a financial advisor (CFP). He was known for his hard work, integrity, and unwavering dedication to both his family and his clients.
Jim is survived by his wife, Gin, his three children: John, Joshua, and Jessica McCoy Reeves, his sister Nina McCoy Adkins, his brother Mike McCoy, his daughters-in-law Ann Marie and Kerry, his son-in-law Dennis Reeves, and his five grandchildren: Mollie, Cayden, Brodie, Waylon, and Owen.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Jim’s memory can give to Harvest Christian Fellowship, Samaritan’s Purse, or the Billy Graham Association.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Harvest Christian Fellowship Church on September 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., located at 6115 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA 92504.
