Mrs. Joann Linda Hilsabeck, 82, of Corona, passed away on January 1, 2025. Joann was blessed to have her three children and husband by her side, during her passing, in her home in Corona CA. Joann’s cause of death was Kidney related. After three years of illness, she was called home. Joann was smiling to her last days.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 18th 2025 in Corona CA. with Art Davis, officiating. Arrangements are by Thomas Miller Mortuary.
Joann was born in Fullerton CA. to Arlene and John Peek on March 25, 1942. She went to school in Anaheim CA. and graduated from Anaheim High School. She married Valerian Lee Hilsabeck, (Larry) on November 27th 1963 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Anaheim CA. Joann graduated from California State University, Long Beach in Long Beach CA. She worked as a Physical Education Teacher for the Corona Norco Unified School District for 15 years. Before retirement, Joann worked for a short time at Chino Valley Unified School District. Mrs. Hilsabeck, or Miss Hilsey, as her students lovingly referred to her, taught unique classes such as folk dancing, archery and aerobics while at Norco High School. She also directed drill teams and worked many track meets. In addition to Physical Education, Joann also worked as a Science and Art teacher as well as a Peer Counselor. In later life, Joann was involved in P.E.O., Philanthropic Educational Organization. Joann loved her P.E.O. Sisters.
Joann is preceded in death by her parents, Arlene and John Peek and in-laws, Val and Katherine Hilsabeck.
Joann is survived by, husband Larry Hilsabeck, children and spouses, Larry Hilsabeck II (Niki Hilsabeck), Jamie Willis (Steve Willis), Lori Drake (Danny Drake), sister Susan Burdick (Dave Burdick) and family, Grandchildren, Kisa and Nicholas Hilsabeck, Taylor and Dustin Wyatt (Hannah), Corey Drake (Bailee), Connor Drake, Sherry Drake, Great Grandchildren, Everest Drake and Clayton Wyatt. Baby River Wyatt (on the way), Most beloved cousin and friend, Lorene Kline, Many In-laws, nieces and nephews. The Hilsabecks in CO. and CA., Brother and Sister in laws, Jerry Hilsabeck,(Debi) and family and Denny Hilsabeck, (Sharron) and family, The Kelly family in CA., Sister-in-law Kathy Kelly and Family.
The family of Joann Hilsabeck wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the exceptional nurses at Bristol Hospice, Patty, Natalie and Mary Ann who shared so much love with the entire family. A big thank you to Art Davis for his compassion and love. Lastly, thank you to Kathy Kelly. We appreciate and love you more than you can imagine.
