Joanne Monica DeGeorge, affectionately known as Joanie, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at the age of 87 in Riverside, California. Born Joanne Monica Palermo on December 14, 1938, in Rochester, New York, she was the cherished daughter of Joseph and Mary Palermo. Joanne lived a life marked by warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.

In 1961, Joanne married Wally DeGeorge, with whom she shared decades of love and companionship. Together, they nurtured a family that grew to embrace children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of joy and pride to her. She is survived by her beloved husband, Wally DeGeorge; her children, Kim Melzer and her spouse George, and Lisa Sanford and her spouse Tom; cherished grandchildren, Nicole Marshall and her spouse Brian, Haley Sanford, and Matthew Sanford; and beloved great-grandchildren, Olivia and Madelyn Marshall. Joanne's legacy also includes a close-knit circle of family and friends who were deeply touched by her generous spirit.

Professionally, Joanne was a dedicated beautician, well-regarded for her skill and her genuine kindness. Her commitment to her clients and her profession was matched only by her devotion to those she loved.

A Mass in honor of Joanne’s life will be held on April 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 3774 Jackson Street, Riverside, California. A reception to celebrate her memory will follow at California Citrus Park, 9400 Dufferin Avenue, Riverside, CA.

Joanne DeGeorge's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and friendship. She will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
