John Frank Gibson was born December 23, 1936 to Helena Marjorie Daniels Gibson and William Grayson Gibson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He went home to be with the Lord August 21, 2022 at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife Carol Rhodes Gibson, children Jennifer (Richard) Thompson, John F. (Mei) Gibson, Gail (Earl) Jones and Kimberly (James) DeStefano, Grandchildren Brad (Jada) and Rachel Sweezy, Nicole, Alyssa, Hannah, and Timothy Jones, Jim, Jr., and Nicole DeStefano, Tyler (Kaitlyn) Johnson, Eric and Avy Gibson and great-grandchild Matthew Sweezy. Also surviving are two sisters, Bette Mills and Marj Weischedel. He was preceded in death by Carol's son, James Johnson John's career was in Aerospace and rail car design. He often said working for the United States government on America's space programs had been an extremely exciting and gratifying era for him. He was proud to have served the nation in this way. John loved all the Philadelphia sport teams, especially the Phillies, Eagles and Seventy-sixers. He also loved English bulldogs. Over his lifetime, he owned nine of them, often two at a time. He also owned a Pekinese named Char-Lee and a gentle pit bull mix, Amanda the Spy. John, known by family as Jack, most of all enjoyed his family. There was nothing that gave him greater joy than having family around him. One of twelve children, he was also beloved Uncle Jack to many.
