John “Jack” Wiley Ellyson

John W. “Jack” Ellyson, 75, of Riverside, California, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016. He was born in Atchison, Kansas on September 27, 1940 to Erma (Chapman) Ellyson and Sidney Ellyson. He graduated from Renton High School in 1958 in Washington and subsequently attended college. In 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in the Philippines and West Germany. Jack worked for many years in the aerospace industry as a systems analyst. He programmed systems for the B2 Stealth Bomber. He spent many years enjoying golf, taking photographs and working on cars. In 1966, he married Joanne Garrick. They had two children, Stephanie Ellyson (Michalik) and John “Johnny” Ellyson. Throughout their marriage, they moved their way down the coast from Kent, Washington to Tualatin Oregon and eventually Southern California. Jack and Joanne were married for 46 years until Joannes death in 2012. Jack is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Michalik of Corona, California and her husband, Ken Michalik; his son, John Ellyson of Corona, California and his wife, Melissa Ellyson; two sisters, Phyllis Brenner of San Antonio, Texas and Carol Ahrens of Sequim, Washington and three grandchildren; Kaylee, Troy and Gretchen as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and identical twin brother, Sidney Robert “Bob” Ellyson, just last year. Jack will be dearly missed by his friends and family. A celebration of his life will be held on March 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomas Miller Mortuary in Corona, California. He will be laid to rest alongside Joanne at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California in April.
