John Melvin
White
Nov 1, 1946 — Sep 2, 2026
John White, 79, a lifelong resident of Corona, California, passed away on September 2, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him dearly, lots of memories, many good stories, and a personality that never quite matched the number on his birthday cake.
Born in Norco and raised in Corona, John remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life and looked forward to attending the Corona High School all-class reunion each year, where he was always happy to reconnect with old friends and share stories.
John spent most of his career as an interior decorator and was the proud owner of White’s Interiors. He had a creative eye and a distinctive sense of style that carried over into his own life as well. His signature look included his collection of skull rings, cross necklaces and his ever-present black shirts or, in his younger years, a white t-shirt paired with jean shorts along with his signature perm hairstyle.
John was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He was also never short on advice - whether you asked for it or not. He had a passion for cars, especially Volkswagens, and could tell you the make or model of nearly any classic car he spotted. He enjoyed watching car shows, but especially loved attending a car show or spending a day at the drag races, especially when his family came along.
He was a devoted Dodgers fan and loved the Kansas City Chiefs, especially Patrick Mahomes. He enjoyed days spent at Newport Beach, Huntington Beach and San Diego, trips to New York City and Hawaii, visits to Disneyland and learning how just about everything was made thanks to countless hours watching How It’s Made. And few people could rival the number of times John watched the movies, John Wick and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Christmas was John’s favorite holiday. He loved making the holidays special by spoiling the people he loved. He looked forward every year to seeing the Christmas trees at Fashion Island and The Grove. John loved shopping with his girls and trying new restaurants, although no matter how many choices were on the menu, he would almost always order the fish tacos.
John was also a plant enthusiast and took great pride in caring for his collection of plants, making his final trip especially meaningful - a visit to San Diego and the San Diego Botanical Garden, where his granddaughter Cassidy works.
More than anything, John loved his family. He treasured time with his granddaughters, Ashley, Cassidy, Isabella and Eleanor, his grand dog, Guinness and his two birds, Stanley and Scooter, who were very much a part of his family.
John is survived by his sons, John and Dean; his daughters Susan and Kellie; his son-in-law, Roger; his daughters-in-law, Maria and Shannon; his granddaughters, Ashley, Cassidy, Isabella and Eleanor and his grandson-in-law, Michael.
Although he will be dearly missed, John is now reunited in heaven with his father, Charles; his mother, Martha; his brother, Chuck; his sister, Carolyn; his son-in-law, Pete and his daughter-in-law, Lisa.
John will be remembered for his humor, generosity, entertaining stories, unmistakable style, willingness to help others and a youthful spirit. He had a way of making life a little more interesting, a little more entertaining and he will be deeply missed whenever an old VW drives by, the Dodgers take the field, someone orders fish tacos or John Wick comes on for “just one more’ viewing.
